Overcoming the Fear of CrossFit
CrossFit at Athlete’s Arena is not as intimidating as you may think. While the media and on-line blog posts portray CrossFit as a dangerous sport with movements only Rich Froning can perform, you should not feel intimidated or fearful to give CrossFit a try!
There’s no doubt that the first time any of our AA CrossFitters tried their first class it was a humbling experience. But the curiosity to try a new sport was exciting! The desire to move out of the mundane cardio workout and into a gym setting surrounded by barbells, plates and motivated and supportive men and women was exiting! The ability to perform an Olympic Weightlifting movement was exciting! But most of all, the desire to improve one’s overall health and fitness was REALLY exciting!
CrossFit is for all ages, genders, professions and abilities. Someone who is self-conscious about their body and abilities will find that CrossFitters are a motivating and supportive group. At first, you may find yourself being the last one to finish an AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible), but you will soon find your fellow CrossFitters cheering you on to finish strong and your overall physical and emotional health improving.
Also, Athlete’s Arena knows the importance of performing a movement safely and effectively to prevent injury. The coaches at AA are CrossFit certified and will guide you through the workout so you can physically perform the movements and perform them safely.
